The development of social media has transformed the educational environment of children within the family. Social media is no longer limited to communication and entertainment, but has also become a space for accessing information, learning, and social interaction. This condition creates both opportunities and risks for Muslim families, particularly regarding parental responsibility for educating, supervising, guiding, and protecting children in digital environments. This study aims to analyze parental responsibility in accompanying children's use of social media for educational purposes and to formulate its relevance from the perspective of Islamic family law. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by synthesizing scholarly literature concerning social media, child education, parental responsibility, Muslim family education, digital parenting, and maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah. The literature was analyzed through identification, selection, categorization, comparison, and synthesis. The findings show that social media can support children's education through broader access to learning resources, flexibility, interaction, and independent learning. Nevertheless, unsupervised use may produce distraction, exposure to unreliable information, excessive use, privacy and safety risks, and weakened self-regulation. From the perspective of Islamic family law, these conditions strengthen the parents' obligation to provide education, supervision, guidance, and protection. Digital parenting should therefore move beyond restrictive control toward dialogical assistance, content selection, time management, digital literacy, self-regulation, and value internalization. The maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah framework strengthens this formulation by placing digital use within the balance between benefit and harm, particularly in safeguarding religion, intellect, life, and lineage. Thus, digital accompaniment is an integral form of parental responsibility in maintaining the welfare and development of children in Muslim families in the digital era.
