Peran Penyuluhan Agama Islam (KUA) dalam Pembinaan Muallaf (Studi Kasus di Kabupaten Magelang)

Abstract

Religious counselors play a significant role in providing guidance to the community to understand and practice religious teachings, including guidance for muallaf (converts). This study examines the role of Religious Counselors from the KUA (Office of Religious Affairs) of Dukun Subdistrict in guiding muallaf in Krinjing Village, Dukun Subdistrict, Magelang Regency, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of such guidance. The research employs a qualitative method with a normative approach, utilizing primary and secondary legal materials and data collection techniques through literature and document studies. The results indicate that the guidance is conducted through regular selapanan (monthly) meetings every Jumat Pahing and productive zakat programs, which are enthusiastically received by the community. Supporting factors include the enthusiasm of the muallaf to deepen their understanding of Islam, while inhibiting factors involve the limited human resources willing to provide guidance. Overall, the guidance provided to muallaf shows positive progress despite the challenge of limited counselors.
